It has been a while since I updated. This is mainly due to starting a new job and not having the time to update!
I recently; well two weeks ago; photographed an Armpits4August day of action in London. Lots of pom poms were places on the armpits of female statues around London. It was really fun, a little rainy but funny. It made a point through. It ended on Southbank; which was a very visible place. I over heard one couple saying the extra body hair was an improvement!
Armpits4August is a bit like Movember; in that it is getting a group of women together to grow their armpit hair to both raise awareness and money for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). A common symptom is excess body hair. But it also challenges society's expectation that women should not have body hair, that as soon as it grows we have to remove it. Why don't we have the choice?
Anyhoo; should be interesting to see the results; especially as it is close to my heart; I have PCOS too.
Here are my photos from the day:
Here is the video; including my photos...and me............
A couple of outtakes from the day (Taken by Ash) :
Today I went to Yoko Ono's exhibition; it was kinda amazing. I will write more another time as I took some photos of the wishing trees outside the Serpentine Gallery.
This is me; taken on the #smilesfilm camera at the Gallery. Hmmm not so good in front of the camera!
